Not for the Baker

This is my first review, which is really odd seeing I depend heavily on reviews to determine product quality prior to buying anything. That being said, I really feel strongly about this item so I thought it was time I wrote my first review!First of all, please do not even consider buying this scale if you plan on using it for baking. Not that it isn't accurate, but that the clean up is nearly impossible. I bake a lot and I am an RNY Patient that watches calories and portion control. That is why I choose this particular scale. However, I have had to resort to putting a plastic wrap on the front of these scales because cleaning out powder substances, i.e. flour, powdered sugar and the like was a constant job. The little buttons clog easily as well. Also I dinged yet another star due to the fact that the Auto Shut off is very quick. By the time I measure one ingredient and prepare the next the dang thing is off and when I turn it back on it has zeroed out already. I have written to the company to find out how to turn off this feature since I could not find it in the manual. In all fairness I just wrote them this morning so I do not have that answer as of yet. I will post it when I get that answer.All in all, if you are just using these scales for portion control and Diet.. on second thought.. forget it.. move on and try one that is easier to clean. If you spill liquid on these scales that too can hurt it. BTW, these scales are quite complicated for the Nutrition Calculator. I would nix that whole idea and use something online that is easier.. like [...] or [...] both of those programs I use and they tell you the nutritional value of whole recipes. Good Luck! Arrived broken

Couldn't tell you if anything about this product is good since I never got a chance to use it as it arrived not functioning. The lcd panel just lit up a bunch of symbols that made no sense and could not be fixed after reading all the instructions numerous times. Would not order again after reading all the other reviews.

I have tried a lot of different "fad" diets but while I'm working on losing weight I've come back to the tried and true method of burning more calories than you consume. I didn't know what to expect with this scale but found that I love it. I love to cook and this allows you to calculate the calories of every ingredient. I set my cooking bowl on the scale and turn it on - it excludes the weight of the bowl. Between each ingredient you turn it off and turn it back on and it resets to zero so you can weigh each ingredient but use the same bowl. The same is true for loading your plate and knowing how much each item weighs. It has a lot of other cool features but my favorite is the zero reset because you don't have to dirty up measuring cups and extra plates to figure each ingredient.It is thin and light weight - I'll admit that sometimes when I carry a large purse I put it in there so that when I go out to lunch I can measure portions.I've lost 20 lbs so far and this has helped me so much.

I was a little worried about ordering a scale online without looking at it, but I really love this scale. The key book, with all the ingredients, that come with it is wonderful. I use the scale to weight everything, including cat food since my cat is on a diet too. I've already lost 9 pounds using this scale to watch my calorie intake.

Dependable scale

I bought this scale about 3 years ago. I use it every day, and in all that time I think I've had to change the batteries maybe two or three times. I was worried that it might become inaccurate as the batteries drained, so I bought a set of weights that I use to check the calibration every week. The 100g, 50g, 20g, 5g, and 2g weights read right on every time I've weighed them. The scale has trouble with the 1g weight, so I wouldn't recommend using it for anything less than 2g. It's also very durable. I packed it in my carry-on bag on a trip. I was afraid it was going to get damaged, but it survived and is just as accurate as before. The scale is made in China.

i bought this scale to help me with my diet and it is very easy to use! i am not yet gotten the hang of figuring out how to program foods in yet, but i will look at the directions in more details. it is very user friendly. i even dropped it on hard wood floor and it held up fine!

This scale has worked fine for me. The food code look up is a bit difficult and makes it a must to always have the manual for looking up the food codes. The glass top is a potential breaking issue. I knew all of this before purchasing the scale so it's not a complaint but an observation, I have ordered other nutrition/food scales that are more user friendly and durable.

I have loved this scale since the first time I set eyes on it and the real product has not been a disappointment. The scale looks fantastic. I have not used all of the features, but really enjoy the tare feature as well as the ability to move between grams, ounces, and pounds. The digital readout is clear and readable. The on/off feature works great, and I'm sure that is prolonging battery life. I have not had any problems with batteries getting run down too quickly. The only thing I really have any concern about is being able to clean under the glass plate. I have been able to wipe off the front and so far grime has not been a problem. It's just hard for something to be in the kitchen and not get dirty. All in all, I'm extremely pleased with this purchase.

Tasty but a little sour

The product taste over all is ok. However the basis of all the flavor seems to be sour. I'm not sure if I can represent the flavor profile well but as I tasted them before giving it to my daughter, first thing that comes to mind is "wow it's sour", kinda like sour strawberry taste. That just me though, my daughter seems to like it. I do try to mix it with other meat or grain product to lessen the acidity taste of the product.

New: We gave this food another chance and it paid off. My son likes everything that he tried. The only flavor he didn't try yet is Baby dal, so I can't say anything about this one, but it looks like he's got totally accustomed to these new flavors and textures and loves it. The only question I still have about this product is how do we know that this is organic if there's no certification.Old: The idea is great. The problem is that my 8 month old son , who is a good eater, but dislikes zesty-tangy flavors did not like any of these, because they all have a little more acid than it really needed to be. Also, it says organic, but it's not certified, so we don't really know.

Baby Loves these foods!

My 11 month old baby loves these foods. They are FULL of flavor. A lot of the ingredients used in these foods include spices we cook with daily. We are so excited because this means our son will love our table food. As 1st time parents, we may have made the ultimate mistake like many other parents have...serving bland food and then having picky eaters.

My son LOVES this food. I think commercial baby foods is too bland but I don't have the time to make my own. When I saw this, I knew my son had to try it. It's delicious and while he's not too keen at first, he's yet to turn down any of the flavors. It is a little on the thicker side (especially the Sweetie Tahiti- think tapioca in texture) but nothing a little bit of formula can't thin out. Great part is, it's all something that's edible! In fact, I finished off the Que Pasa Calabasa earlier when my son didn't. Tasted like baked acorn squash my family does for holidays!

Great Foods -- Wish There Were More

I got these for my daughter after she was 7 months old. I learned a lesson with my older son, whom I weaned on bland baby food (both store bought and homemade -- we're vegetarian so there's not too much variety), and from 18mos to 3 1/2 he basically didn't try anything new beyong mac n cheese, spaghetti, and pizza. I read that the time to introduce new flavors and textures is from 8-12 mos, so I knew I had to act fast on my daughter.These were the only baby foods I found on the web that uses real spices. Other gourmet baby foods have fresh ingredients, and occasionally some vanilla, or cinnamon, added, but these have really complex spices like dill, cilnatro, ginger and cardamom.I agree with the previous reviewer that the Dahl is the strongest, with cumin. My daughter didn't like it at first (funny, because she's half-Indian), but after a few tries she loved it. She also needed a few attempts at Tokyo Tum Tum (with soy and ginger). She LOVED the Baby Borscht, as well as the Sweetie Tahiti and Que Pasa Calabasa. If you're vegetarian, these foods are great because several of them -- the Mexican and Indian flavors in particular -- have lentils and beans (garbanzos) for protein.I ordered two variety packs and went through them in about a month. Then when I went to order more they were (are) out of stock. But these foods inspired me to start pureeing stuff we eat all the time -- I've now given my daughter refried beans, stuffed shells, and polenta, and she loves all of it! I hope that she'll end up a less picky eater than my son (who interestingly, not wanting to be outdone by his little sister, has started getting more adventurous himself!).

My husband and I have each eaten 2+ boxes a month for a year now (we're on subscription) and we have no signs of tiring of them. A Pro Bar is breakfast 6 days a week. Nearly 400 calories, a reasonable sugar level, wholesome organic ingredients that I can easily recognize, and delicious to boot!? What more could you ask for? These are well worth the cost and leave other meal replacement bars and supplement bars in the dust. I teach tennis 8-10 hours a day, sometimes without a break. When my lessons unexpectedly go over and I run out of time for lunch, these get me through the day and provide plenty of wholesome energy. Thanks ProBar!

Best tasting bar ever!!!

I have tried many types of nutritional bar but Pro Bar Nutty Banana Boom has to be the best tasting bar I have ever eaten. They fill you up with about 370 calories, offer great nutrition so you don't crave that junk food, and tastes so good. I like the part where the dark chocolate chip morsels mixes with the coconut strip creating an amazing amount of flavor in your mouth. They are the most expensive bars but if you opt for Amazon's subscribe and save option, it makes it a bit cheaper.Overall, these are the best tasting bars which I use on the tennis courts so I can play all day and eat for lunch when I am strapped for time.

Gets me where I am going

From May 22-July 17th, I swam twenty miles a day for a total of 981 miles, to be the first person to swim the Ohio River. It was an extremely difficult swim, often swimming for eleven hours with ten minute breaks every two hours to eat a Probar and replace fluids. At the end of most days I was physically, emotionally and mentally exhausted and wondered how my 54-year-old body could recover enough to wake up and do it again. It did. During the swim, Probar was my source of nourishment, almost my only source. During the course of swim, I ate over four hundred Probars,and by July 17th was so tired of them I was sure I'd never eat another them again. I was wrong. My recovery from the swim is almost as difficult as the actual swim. After a few week of doing without Probars, I am back to eating them as voraciously as before to aid the recovery process. Prior to my swim, I researched bars. None came close to comparing to the nutritionally dense Probar. I made the right choice choosing it. Now that I am done swimming, I can return to my favorite sport, trail running. There are a few 50km runs I'd like to do and with Probar in my pack, I'll get them done. I am a vegetarian. It use to be difficult to get the nutrition I need, but not anymore. I keep a Probar in my jeep and one in my purse. I am thankful to have them. No, I am not sponsored by Probar. This stuff is great. There is a little bit of flavor, but it's hardly noticeable even when mixed with minimum ingredients. I was looking for a good all natural protein supplement and this one definitely fit the bill. I'll be buying another jug as soon as my other one runs out. If you are on the fence about this product, do yourself a favor and just buy it.

Well, it is what it is. And without any flavoring, it's pretty gross. But this stuff is not intended to be taken straight. But I didn't want to be chugging a bunch of fake sweeteners and such either. So, what to do? Well, what I like to do is add malted milk powder with a scoop of this protein powder in a glass of milk. I'm fortunate to be one that loves malted milk powder, which is just made of barley and milk, so it's relatively healthy. Problem solved!One thing that's kind of goofy is that they say there is 28g of protein per serving! How is this possible? The scoop that is included is bigger! Well, ok then. Not a complaint, just an observation. I'm certain I'll continue to buy this. But I'm still on my first giant tub.

This protein powder was not a disappointment, I enjoyed the fact that it was neutral, not flavored. I recommend this product if you are looking for a protein powder that has high grams of protein, with no after taste and in a neutral flavor. I ordered the small size to try and ready for the larger size. Also use it in your recipes, like cookies, etc. There are great recipes out there with whey protein - go check out! Replace that power bar with one of your own!!!

I tried this out of curiosity since I liked other NuGo Bars. It is definitely worth the calories in terms of satisfaction. I did notice that they must have overheated somewhere along the way as the chocolate on the bottom was a bit dry ( the appearance that older, melted chocolate has)

I've been eating gluten-free since I was in 3rd grade (I am now a junior in college) and I've eaten a lot of crappy gluten-free bars. Most of them are too hard, too dry, and taste like packing peanuts.But not these.While the ingrediant list might make you cringe, they're acutally quite tasty. They've got a great chewy texture, a nice crunch and the chocolate/cranberry combination is great!However, the other products by this company are not as delicious, the trail mix bars are the only exception.

Think gluten-free, soy-free, and dairy-free bars will taste bad? Nope! Then again, dark chocolate solves everything. They are a little dry, but overall they are filling, convenient and satisfy that chocolate/sweet craving.
