Tips On Skin Care Related To Longevity
It is quite normal to expect people to want to look attractive and this might explain why anti-ageing skin care products are so successful; as we are living far longer than previous generations it is a good idea to look after your physical appearance. This is achieved in beauty products by promoting the growth of connective tissue using the protein collagen which is the most abundant in the skin of all animals; approximately one quarter of the protein contained in skin is collagen. Collagen is related to other anti-ageing substances found in the body and other substances; this group is called antioxidants which are natural chemicals found in many foods and our body.
You probably know many anti-oxidants by name, including vitamin C, the use of which is still, even now, hotly debated in the science and nutrition community. Unfortunately all skin care treatments that use vitamin C have the problem of atmospheric oxidization to contend with once the product is exposed to the air.
Other skin care treatments which mimic the effects of vitamin C are being tried all the time which are hoped to be more stable in the atmosphere and also cheaper to produce. However, these anti-ageing skin care treatments are not as effective vitamin C based products, although vitamin E and lipoic acid are also anti-oxidants and have similar effects.
Vitamin E has many functions including inhibiting the formation of cancer cells. It is found in the blood it is an antioxidant that is also used to increase the body's defenses against other diseases. On the other hand, lipoic acid or alpha-lipoic acid is necessary for energy production which keeps us alive; it is in every human cell and another function is to repair skin damage caused by the normal ageing process.
Other compounds called phytochemicals have proved to be beneficial in the formulation of anti-ageing skin care products; they are removed from various plants. A secondary but more important use of phytochemicals is the effect they have on the prevention of breast, prostate and colon cancers.
It has also been discovered that there are anti-ageing benefits to vitamins B5, B6 and B12. Although the area of anti-ageing skin care products is huge, more is being learnt about the whole ageing process and about natural products that can reduce the effects it has on our bodies as well as our skin.
There is no doubt that what has been learned so far is only a small part of the jigsaw puzzle but research is moving forward rapidly and it is only a matter of time before a new generation of products becomes available. In time it is hoped that less expensive and more reliable anti-ageing skin care products will become available for a larger number of people to use.
At the moment though, science is still behind the field of natural anti-ageing methods and it might take some time to replace them. Simple things that can make a difference in slowing the signs of ageing; these include physical activity, restful sleep, maintaining good dietary habits and removing stress from your life.

Magnesium is an essential nutrient, the activating mineral for at least 350 different enzymes in the body, more than any other mineral. The body is negatively affected in hundreds of ways by lack of magnesium. The body needs magnesium to assimlate and conserve calcium, and this will naturally deplete magnesium storage(magnesium-on the other hand, does not depend on calcium). Without adequate levels of magnesium, calcium remains in the body unused. Mental or physical stress, excess consumption of sugar, coffee, colas and soft drinks; medical drugs; a low thyroid condition; diabetes; chronic pain; diuretics; high carbohydrate diet; high calcium diet are conditions that deplete magnesium. A slight deficiency of magnesium can cause slight depression and lack of well-being, headaches, pain in the lower back, stiff-tight muscles and lack of or restless sleep. A continuing, more severe magnesium deficiency can lead to serious muscle cramps, calcium deposits, muscle twitches and tics, high blood pressure, involuntary and abnormal muscular contractions, chest pain called angina pectoris, and heart arrhythmia. The powder has a pleasant, unsweetened natural lemon flavor and a mild effervescence. Features

![]() Krill Oil, 60softgels, Longevity Science DescriptionNKO Krill Oil from Longevity Science is a superior form of fish oil made from Neptune Krill - tiny shrimp-like crustacea harvested from the pristine oceans surrounding Antarctica. Has an ORAC capacity of over 300 times that of vitamin C or vitamin E Contains phosphatidyl-choline and has significant choline content, a precursor for the neurotransmitter acetylcholine which supports healthy liver function and is important in learning and memory functions Supports maintenance of healthy cell membranes Has displayed clinically significant anti-inflammatory action* May provide multi-factorial cardiovascular support* May help alleviate emotional and physical symptoms of PMS* The antioxidant capacity of NKO Krill Oil is nothing short of amazing. It is rich in astaxanthin, a natural carotenoid which is more powerful than beta-carotene. Using ORAC testing, NKO Krill Oil has over 300 times the antioxidant power of vitamin C or vitamin E, over 34 times the power of CoQ10 and more than 47 times the power of lutein.* The omega-3 fatty acids in NKO Krill Oil are unique in their profile. NKO is made via a patented low temperature extraction process which maintains the integrity of the phospholipids, to which the omega-3s are bound. Phospholipids are the primary structures of human cell membranes, which, by regulating cellular transport, function as the gate-keepers of cells. When omega-3s are preserved intact in this phospholipid complex, it highly facilitates the absorption of the fatty acids in the intestines.* The most predominant phospholipid in NKO Krill Oil is phosphatidyl-choline, making NKO Krill Oil a rich source of choline. Choline is a precursor for the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, and for trimethylglycine, a methyl donor which supports healthy liver function. |
![]() Lyco-Max, 60 softgels, Longevity Science DescriptionLycopene is a member of the carotenoid family, the red pigment found in tomatoes and other plants. Lycopene is one of the most abundant carotenoids in human blood and tissue. Studies show that lycopene is the most potent anti-oxidant of the entire carotenoid family, surpassing all currently known carotenoids, including beta-carotene. One of the most abundant and common sources of lycopene is tomatoes. Including fresh tomatoes in your diet, however, does not make large quantities of lycopene bio-available. Pureeing and heating tomatoes may increase bio-availability, but does not give one the convenience of a concentrated form. Longevity Science Lyco-Max contains the form of lycopene identical to the one used in the most successful clinical studies; each capsule also contains 15mg of natural tomato source lycopene, containing tomato lipids which enhance the absorption of the lycopene. Ingredients: Each softgel contains: Total Calories 5 Vitamin A (as beta-caroten) 733 IU Vitamin E (as mixed tocopherols) 4 IU Lycopene 15 Mg Phytoene 880 Mcg Phytofluene 880 Mcg Other Ingredients: Rice brain oil, glycerin, purified water, medium chain triglycerides, yellow beeswax, silica. Recommended Use: Adults: Take two softgels daily. |
![]() Cellife X-Tend L-Carnosine, Longevity Science, 60 caps DescriptionCellife X-Tend with L-Carnosine is a powerful anti-aging nutrient. L-carnosine is a safe, stable amino acid intermediate (a dipeptide) which is naturally-occurring in the human body. L-carnosine stands out as one of the most promising multi-modal life extension discoveries of recent years. Although L-carnosine benefits the body in several ways, its most profound effect is extending the life of cells.** Some of the natural age-related processes that carnosine may help retard are: Neurological degeneration Cellular senescence (cell aging throughout the body) Cross-linking of the eye lens Accumulation of damaged proteins (blocking or slowing various biological functions) Muscle atrophy Brain circulatory deficit Skin collagen cross-linking (wrinkles) LDL cholesterol oxidation DNA chromosome damage Formation of advanced glycation end products L-carnosine has been shown in studies to rejuvenate aging cells.** In vitro (test tube) studies with human cells have shown that introduction of L-carnosine can rejuvenate late-passage (aged) cells, causing them to regain their youthful appearance. L-carnosine benefits the body in other ways. L-carnosine inhibits a process called glycation, which occurs when sugars bind to proteins (glycated proteins).** Glycation significantly increases free radical formation. This increases cross-linking with other proteins to create Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs). The daily dosage of L-carnosine is important. The body produces an enzyme called carnosinase, which breaks down L-carnosine. This necessitates the use of enough L-carnosine to ensure that the rate at which L-carnosine is ingested surpasses the enzymes capacity to break it down. By supplementing with at least 1000mg on a daily basis, one can obtain the amount necessary for L-carnosine to exhibit its important benefits. |
