Like green tea and many other supplements that have lax labeling regulations, it can be difficult to find a fish oil that actually delivers what you need instead of a bunch of filler. This delivers what you need.As you begin to research fish oils, you'll learn that you have to check the label - you can't just rely on the mg on the label, as manufacturers will list the mg of "fish oil," not the mg of what you're really after - Omega 3s, especially EPA+DHA. Basically everything else is just filler and a meaningless number. For example, Kirkland Signature Natural Fish Oil Concentrate with Omega-3 Fatty Acids - 400 Softgels, a lower cost competitor, advertises "1000 mg," but when you look at the label, you'll see that it only provides 180mg EPA and 120mg DHA - aka 300 mg of what you actually want. What's everything else in that pill? As far as what we're concerned, junk.Nordic Naturals advertises 1000mg, and actually provides 1280mg Omega 3s per serving - 650mg EPA, 450mg DHA, 180mg other Omega 3s, and 56mg Oleic Acid (Omega-9). The company is also committed to sustainable fishing practices and exceeds the strict Norwegian Medicinal Standard for quality, ensuring lower peroxides, heavy metals, dioxins, and PCBS - we do not have any governmental fish oil quality standards in the US.For reference, I take this product with GNC MEGA MEN Multivitamins 180 Tablets (EXP:11/2011) and Green Tea Mega EGCG™ (100 veggie capsules). My doctor recomended this product for me. She felt that it is supperior to any of the other brands. The only place that she knew that sold it was a compounding pharmacy that charged me twice as much as Amazon.com. I tend to review products i use and like. Nordic Naturals is awesome. No "fishy" taste because of the lemon. I feel and look rejuvenated. Even my nails seem more healthy when I use it. I also like the softgels they use.

Wow, this oil arrived impeccably fresh. I'd describe it as neutral tasting with a mild citrus flavor. Unfortunately my kids didn't care for swallowing it and they switched back to the Coromega squeeze packs which they love (and I can't stomach). Despite the flavor being fine, I didn't care for swallowing oil so I now take the Carlson Elite capsules. Great high quality stuff!

Kirkland Fish Oil Concentrate Softgels are a great way to get Omega-3 into your diet. I decided to try these after reading about the many benefits of taking Fish Oil (better cholesterol numbers, improved memory, less joint pain, etc). While it is had to quantify exactly what effect supplements are having since I am also taking prescription medications, but my cholesterol numbers have significantly improved over the past three months and there is noticeably less pain in my knees.Just a note, Kirkland is the store brand of a major "warehouse club" and I have have always been pleased with the quality compared to national brands and generics.Highly Recommended!CFH

The cost can't be beat. But the fishy burps that can occur after are FOUL. If you don't mind that, then these are for you. I've decided that, while these vitamins are good for you and cost effective, the discomfort of fishy burps is too uncomfortable for me and I have to switch back to my more expensive brand. But if you're OK with that, these are definitely a bargain!

Be careful of this distributor

Although the following was my fault for not watching this distributor closely they essentially rip you off. I had ordered three of these jars within a much larger purchase and, shame on me, I did not bother to look at what they were charging me for shipping and handling (Amazon's order screen does not let you easily review that for multiple shipment orders). The long and short of it is that I paid a little more than $40 for 3 of these jars (a good deal) but this company charged me $21 to ship the 3 jars (this is where you have to watch them). You would at least hope that paying $21 for shipping would get you overnite service - but the estimated delivery date is 7 days after I ordered them. Find another distributor

We were buying this at walmart for $11/100ct, but this is a much better deal. I like that they distill the oil to remove PCP's and dioxins that bioaccumulate in animals. Not all brands state this purification step. As for the health effects, heart beat and mood do seem to benefit from it. We take 2 in the morning.

This product was delivered just as defined with no delay.I have hesitated taking Fish Oil with Omega 3 fatty acids because some have commented about a fishy after-taste especially at night. My eye doctor is very high on it and she strongly urged me to start taking it. With aging, eye trouble and heart risk, I decided to try it. On her recommendation, I chose a higher quality product and this one is perfect - no aftertaste. I will definitely order again.

Doing research on a prescription pill called Lovaza as an alternative to this. I called Costco, spoke with their pharmacy for this supplement they quoted:EPA 410mg per DHA 274mg perCompared to the wonder drug (for high-tri problems) Lovaza:EPA 465mg per DHA 375mg perSo you're getting a little less EPA and considerably less DHA compared to the prescription fish oil pill. But for me (and I'd assume most people who have pharmacy copays and/or deductibles), the cost of taking one additional supplement capsule per day is ultimately FAR less expensive than going prescription.

Outstanding....and it works!

In my pursuit, as a woman, to find the right combination of products to promote hair growth (I am 60 years old), I discovered that taking enough of a good quality fish oil supplement actually works! I tried other brands and they just didn't work! Please understand that fish oil does not "make" your hair grow, but supplies enough nutrients so that you can regrow lost hair. With me, I feel that my nutritional status has decreased over the years causing my hair to thin. My diet is very good, but age still is a factor in my ability to utilize the food I eat. However, you can't just take one or two capsules a day to achieve this effect. The bottle states that every capsule contains EPA 410 mg and DHA 274 mg. Since you can't separate them, you have to count only the lesser amount of DHA 274 mg. The recommended amount by healthy/naturalist recommendations require that you take 2,000 mg/day of EPA and DHA. This equals 7 capsules a day to achieve. For myself, I found that taking six capsules a day, three in the morning with breakfast and three in the afternoon with supper, is sufficient. If I have to, I will increase my intake to 7 capsules a day. Although they are enteric coated, I help myself by taking all three capsules with the first few mouthfuls of food, making the famous "fish-belch" even less likely. Good luck!

Finally, a non-fishy alternative

On my doctor's recommendation, I've been taking 1000mg of fish oil daily. However, within an hour the standard capsules start "reminding" you that you took them. I did some research and found the Nature's Bounty softgels to be a good deal, and once I started taking them, I found them to be an even better deal. I now take two 1000mg Nature's Bounty softgels per day (about 12 hours apart) and there is absolutely no fishy aftertaste or "burpage." I credit them with helping bring my LDL cholesterol down from a shocking 311 to a more agreeable 150. (Your mileage may vary.)

Years ago I took fish oil capsules at night and the fishy aftertaste was a little unpleasant.I was happy to hear about this odorless form. It is much more pleasant without that heavy fish oil taste while still getting all the nutritional benefits.There is nothing fishy about it. DAB Nutrition never shipped my order

On July 12 2010 I ordered Glycomaize from DAB Nutrition with a shipping date of July 13 or 14 and with an arrival period from July 16 to 21. By July 18 I still hadn't received the email notifying me that my "order has shipped" so I wrote an email to DAB's customer service. On July 20th (one day before the final day the product was to arrive) I got an email from them saying something like "Oh, sorry. The seller tells us the product is not in stock. Do you want to keep waiting?"Of course I don't want to keep waiting, as there are many other places from where I can get this product! And thanks for telling me earlier!Not impressed. I'll never order from these people again, and I suggest you don't either. Oh, and by the way, they are still claiming that the product is "in stock." I'm guessing someone simply flubbed my order and they didn't want to own up to it.

Side effects

This was my first experience with fish oil.After taking these, my sense of taste and smell were altered. Everything smelled and tasted awful.I don't know if I got a bad batch, but it was enough to put me off fish oil. I ended up throwing them out.I hope you have a better experience.

Softgels do not have the nasty fish oil taste (unless you bite them); the price is great. If you take blood thinners such as aspirin etc., check with your doctor before taking fish oil(unless you like easy-bruising).

The Carlson gels are soft but do not stick to each other but also do not get tough once the bottle has been opened, making them easy to use, and are an excellent bargain with the 30 extra.

Easy to swallow and I hate pills

Shamefully I just recently learned how to swallow small tablets. When I received these pills in the mail, I about fainted. The bottle is HUGE, so I knew the pills had to be big also. When I opened the lid and saw the capsules, I saw that they were a lot bigger than I have ever swallowed. Well I finally took one out with my dinner and swallowed it. I have a hard time swallowing pills, but this went down so easy that I got it down on the first try. Since this is only day 1, I can't tell you of any benefits it might have yet, but I will be sure to come back and post them if I experience any. I posted 2 pictures, so you all can see the size of the bottle and capsules.

The true dose is only revealed by adding the EPA and the DHA. One softgel has 216 mg of EPA and 144 mg of DHA. So, one softgel has 360 mg of helpful fish oil and the remaining 840 mg is filler fish oil.When comparing fish oil, look at the back panel supplement facts. Add the EPA and DHA to get the true MG and make sure you look at the serving size. Nature made has 2 softgels per serving size, so you must divide by 2 to get the per softgel info.Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega or Twin Labs Mega appear to be better choices.
